I have a 2007 tahoe that has developed several cracks in the dash. One above the steering wheel and another at the passenger side air bag. I am concerned that should the passenger airbag deploy, the dash pieces will become shrapnel, causing avoidable injuries. All of sudden my dash on passager side, over air bag show a crack, and as the time went by is cracking even more . I just went to chevrolet yesterday,to see what could be done , and the first thing i heard was that was very commom ,but since i'm out of warranty, that should cost around $ 1300 to be replaced. Since is common ,and i was looking on line , they should replace at their cost not ours.

2007 tahoe with 100k miles. Dashboard has been cracked since before 100k and chrome peeling from door handles causing occasional cuts to hands when opening doors. Dealer has refused to do anything and both are expensive repairs. Don't plan to buy another gm product - they don't stand behind their products.

Takata recall. Also, the dash of the tahoe is cracked in several places and seems like a safety hazard if the air bags were to be deployed. After research, it seems as if this is a very common problem on this model. I have called and emailed gm about my issue, but have never received any type of response regarding the dash.

Hear on the news that chevrolet has a problem with dashboard cracking and try to contac them but they refusing to fix their problem because is out of warranty. When you engage the rear auto lift gate (ltz) the door goes 3/[redacted] up and then begins to close on you literally traping you between the door and the rear opening. At first it would happen ever so often, now i must push the button again to stop the door from closing. This is a danger especially to children.

There is now a recall on the airbags which is another example of the cheap material chevrolet put into there vehicle. If airbags do deploy, portions of those cheap plastic dashboards can be deadly.
